Group Support
It takes a village . . .
Over the decades, it's become clear to me that many of our individual and collective ills seem to come from our lack of natural group holding and supportive community.
Gathering together in a group field feels to be an obvious and supportive antidote to this.
I love the magic that happens uniquely within group reflection, process and wisdom.
Check below for what's happening now, what's past, and what's to come.
Some groups are regular ongoing drop-ins and some are intermittent, closed circles.

Open Floor: Embodied Dance & Movement
3795 Utah St, North Park
Join us in San Diego to connect with the practice of Open Floor, a global conscious dance/movement modality. We engage embodied movement and dance to foster authenticity, emotional intelligence, and connection.
On the Open Floor, we don’t learn to dance; we dance to learn - employing dance, movement, and guided reflection as a form of meditation, inquiry and discovery. There are no steps to follow, no performance, no “right or wrong” — just showing up. A dance might look like wild, sweaty expression or the gentle tapping of a finger.
Open Floor is a resource-based movement practice. We explore new ways of moving and responding to life with intention and curiosity. As we play with different movement options, we learn more about our patterns and expand our capacity for flexibility, resilience, choice, and ease — both on and off the dance floor. It's like group therapy - in motion! It's how human beings have gathered since the beginning of time.
We are an inclusive space, honoring all bodies, lineages, and paces. Chairs are available in the movement space for sitting as desired. To support accessibility and community care, we offer a three-tier sliding scale for classes and workshops - no explanation needed. In our inquiry map, we use the terms "soul" and "spirit" broadly, referring to a connection with something larger than ourselves. We sometimes include a visual focal point — some see it as an altar, others as an art installation.
I completed a two-year Open Floor teacher training with OFI in 2015/16 and have been practicing and teaching the modality since, mostly in San Luis Obispo. Starting January 8, 2026, I'm excited to bring the practice to San Diego through weekly classes, workshops, and events. I hold the practice space with integrity, tenderness, and respect for each person’s freedom of expression, and bring my experience as a holistic therapist and somatic practitioner to support a trauma-aware, inclusive environment. I love how Open Floor makes embodiment accessible to all and values the potency of gathering in community (our saving grace!).
Class Details
This weekly 90-minute class is a space to move, groove, arrive in your body, meet yourself in the “here and now,” and cocreate community. We'll engage dance, movement, and guided inquiry/reflection as a form of connection, meditation, awareness practice and learning.
With music and guidance, we practice bringing attention to our physical sensations, thoughts, and feelings as we "move and include". Classes include a mix of structured exercises, verbal guidance, open dancing, and music — something different each week. We follow the gestalt movement cycle:
Open Attention: Arrive and warm up, preparing the body.
Entering: Drop into your body, the theme, and the present moment.
Exploring: Deepen into movement resources through guided and self-led dance.
Settling: Integrate and digest, supporting the nervous system to encode new possibilities and pathways.
Exercises may be solo, paired, or in small groups. Partner or group work is always optional, and physical contact only happens with clear consent. Some dancers enjoy touch; others do not. Both choices are welcome. We recognize that initiating or declining contact can feel vulnerable, and I actively support these conversations and tracks group safety throughout class.
What to Bring?
A water bottle and a journal/notebook if you want to record your experiences.
Many people like to dance barefoot. Soft shoes are also good. Avoid socks and outdoor shoes. Socks make it easier to slip and get injured.
We recommend wearing comfortable clothing and layers so you can adjust temperature.
Sliding Scale
To support accessibility and community care, we offer a three-tier sliding scale. Choose the tier that feels right for you — no explanation needed.
Community Supported: $5–10
For those needing a lower rate so it can be accessible.
*For those who can't pay the minimum, feel free to contact me ahead of class about energy exchange (e.g., help with set-up/break down; greeter; posting)
Sustainer: $15–20
Covers the costs of class. Choose this tier if you're able to pay the standard rate.
Supporter: $25–30
For those with more financial ease. Choosing this tier helps fund Community Supported dancers.
It bears repeating . . . You are welcome exactly as you are. We look forward to moving and being moved, together. Resourced by our embodiment practices, may we create adaptive and regenerative relationships with ourselves, each other, and our planet.
Come as you are. Move, breathe, sweat, soften, shake, grieve, celebrate, rest, reconnect — your way, at your pace. We look forward to moving and being moved together, co-creating a dynamic Open Floor community in San Diego.
Gestalt Practice Circles
These are slower, deeper dives into our here-now embodied experience - informed by my studies in being, craniosacral therapy, continuum montage, authentic movement, qi gong, and massage. New circles starting 2026. Send an email here if you'd like to be informed about dates and locations.
BodySong Experiences
In 2014, I began offering Grief Embodiment & Movement Support (GEMS) circles on the central CA coast, drawing on my years of experience working with hospice, my own grief/loss journeys, the teachings of Francis Weller, and my movement practices. In 2018, I trained with UK-based Azul Valerie Thome in her grief composting circles. Azul weaves Francis Weller's work with Joanna Macy's Work that Reconnects, as well as her own art, deep lineages, and experience. I have been in close relationship with grief groups and community rituals, including the learning and unlearning I am engaging with Bayo Akomolafe since 2024.
I weave these teachings and experiences into Embodied Grief Circles. We gather new groups as they fill. A new circle will be forming in 2026. Send an email here if you're interested and would like to be informed about details, dates and locations.
Embodied Grief Circles
Gestalt Practice is a delicious haven in a rushed, disconnected society. We practice internal & external awareness, orient, play with foreground/background, contact, and checking in within gestalt principles of here/now, non-interpretive, peer with-ness. These groups are informed by my longterm study with Tribal Ground Circle 2015-2019 and beyond. The lineage of Gestalt Practice that I have learned within was birthed by Fritz Perls and Dick Price at Esalen and further practiced/developed/taught by Chris Price and Dorothy Charles at Tribal Ground Circle in Aptos, CA, where I engaged the community.
New circles starting 2026. Send an email here if you'd like to be informed about dates and locations.
Morning Contact
Intermittent zoom gatherings where we come together in this great mystery . . . lose our way, find good company, be with what is, move, practice awareness, share our here's and now's . . . Our past series were daily during holiday time of Nov/Dec 2025 and daily during first months of COVID. Inspired by Gestalt Practice, Open Floor, continuum, and Bayo Akomolafe's inquiry spaces, slowing down 'in the cracks'.
